The 2022 Holiday Season Is Here
- We survived Halloween.
- We survived the time change.
- The Elections are almost over.
But now we must manage Holiday Season Stress.
Every year, the holidays server as an Applied Spirituality Practicum
Yes, an annual spirituality field test to see how much we’ve progressed.
Whether the holidays are your cup of tea or a particularly evil path through hell, your ability to remain present, mindful, and spiritual get tested at every turn.
Holiday Wellness Tips: The Good
When was the last time you saw the holidays through the eyes of a child?
Or enjoyed being around little kids experiencing some of their first holiday memories? Kids are typically fully self-expressed, anticipating Santa’s surprises and their tribe’s holiday traditions.
Other holiday joys include connecting with cherished friends and loved ones and enjoying our favorite holiday foods, tastes, smells, or traditions.
Holiday Wellness Tips: The Bad
On the other hand, there is the Holiday Bad.
Shopping traffic brings out the holiday spirit in everyone.
The same is true for the parties, celebrations, festivities, and services, which are incredibly hellish for the introverted among us.
Holiday Wellness Tips: The Ugly
The Holiday Ugly starts with sweaters. Oh, my goodness. There are some real doozies out there.

Remember the 10 pounds of ugly holiday weight many of us never seem to avoid?!?
Lastly, we have inflation in 2022, adding yet another layer of holiday stress. Food, gas, and gifts will all cost us more this year.
Then to top everything off, we have a new year to plan in our quest to create a thriving life…
These Holiday Wellness Tips are spiritual solutions to help you consciously navigate the 2022 Holiday Season.
Same Stuff, Different Year
The holidays are like the movie Groundhog Day. Each year we have another opportunity to test ourselves in remaining present, aware, and grounded.
The holidays are a proving ground of sorts, a spiritual pop quiz that tests our spiritual skill levels to generate Holiday Spirit regardless of the circumstance.
TSB Holiday Wellness Tips

TSB Journaling provides the consciousness training needed to create a thriving life.
T: Disarming Holiday Triggers
Anything we experience can send us down a bunny hole of bad behavior. These unconscious reactions are our triggers. Unfortunately, like so many Ghosts of Holidays Past, most of us are unaware of these triggers’ impact on our well-being.
Some common triggers include:
- Food
- Drug and alcohol
- People (a rude uncle, oblivious mother, insensitive father)
- Places or Things…
To disarm your triggers, we look at our upsets from holidays past to identify the behaviors we want to change and the actions that instigated the behavior.
We then consciously choose alternative ways to cope with and manage the circumstance when it occurs this year. Therefore, it’s best to create three different options for each problem.
These mental rehearsals help us recognize the situation before it’s too late, then respond with detachment while on the playing field of life.
S: Choosing Holiday Shoulds
Our “shoulds” are stinky messes that take us out of the game. “Shoulds” are a tug of war between our instincts and intuition.
Some common “shoulds” are:
- I should go to this holiday party.
- I should buy this for so and so.
- I should send a card to…
- I should respond say something nice.
Our “shoulds” are most often related to our tribal truths and customs that conflict with our current station in life.
The Holiday Wellness Tip is to journal and evaluate every “should” that comes up, especially if it drains you.
- Write down why it’s essential.
- Write down its cost (financial, emotional, psychological).
- Write down the consequences of all options.
Free will means you ain’t gotta do anything you don’t want to do as long as you’re willing to accept the consequences of your actions.
B: Accepting Holiday Because-ism
Accepting “because” as a valid reason for life’s circumstances, we find a path to freedom.
People do what they do and are the way they are “because” that’s what’s so.
We can resist or accept the things in life beyond our power to change. Spiritual Awareness helps us avoid any delusions about what is ours to change.
A variation of the serenity prayer, which, when embraced and practiced, is one of the most effective Holiday Wellness Tips available.
These three Holiday Wellness Tips are simple yet challenging to embrace. But, once adopted, staying in the eye of the storm, mindfully present, quietly receptive, and thinking tranquility, the 2022 Holiday Season will be a slice of heaven on earth.
